My Story
I originally discovered yoga simply because I wanted a new hobby. As a full time secondary school teacher of modern foreign languages and a huge gym fan, I felt that I needed to add something to my bag. So I gave hot yoga a try and I was instantly hooked! I initially started to practice yoga for the health benefits and self care time. I have had some inspirational teachers and thanks to them, through yoga I have learned (and still am learning) to meditate, slow down, take time for myself and remove any judgement that I have about myself – something that I have struggled with for a long time as I have battled through depression and anxiety. In 2018 I made the decision to go part time at school (in my other life I am also a secondary school MFL teacher). I was so happy with what yoga had given me that I embarked upon my 200hour YTT. I feel so strongly that everyone should be able to experience the benefits of yoga, whether they are physical, spiritual or emotional.
As a yoga teacher and student I approach my yoga from a variety of viewpoints, physical, philosophical and spiritual. Everything that yoga is, falls in line with my morals, values and aspirations for how I lead and want to lead my classes and my life. I truly believe that yoga should be accessible to all. It isn’t for rich, skinny, flexible, white women; yoga is for all shapes, sizes, colours, religions, ages, species…everyone!
The only thing constant in life is change. Change is all around us. Something new is always happening. So, I love to learn, I consider myself to be constantly learning, for my own benefit and interests and for that of my yoga clients.
In addition to my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training I have also completed:
35hrs Teaching yoga for stress, burnout, ME &CFS
50hr Yin teacher training
30hrs Yoga Nidra
Sanskrit for Yogis: An interactive Introduction
30hrs Advanced Meditation Teacher Training
50hrs Yoga Philosophy
I feel truly lucky that I discovered yoga and a hope that I can share the many benefits with you.
